IMEKO (www.imeko.org) Technical Committee (TC) 11 Metrological Infrastructure, TC 19 Environmental Measurements and TC 20 Energy Measurement organise the Symposia Metrological Infrastructure, Environmental and Energy Measurement (→MIE²) and Mediterranean Industry of the Sun (→SUN) that will be held from Wednesday through Friday, June 15-17, 2011, in Dubrovnik Riviera, Cavtat, Croatia.

MIE² The aim of the Symposium “Metrological Infrastructure, Environmental and Energy Measurements is to bring together officers and employees from National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) from the entire world as well as researchers, developers and users in the area of environmental and energy measurements to jointly present their efforts in developing the global and regional metrological infrastructure and to discuss the challenges of environmental and energy metrology. The organizers hope that the inspiring Adriatic atmosphere, combined with scientific excellence, will enhance cooperative relationships between colleagues even from distant countries as well as envisage new metrological challenges. The inclusion of IMEKO TC Technical Committee TC 19 Environmental Measurements and of the recently established Technical Committee TC 20 Energy Measurement intends to create awareness of the role of measurement and metrology for successfully tackling the grand challenges of sustainable energy supply and consumption as well as protecting our environment and mitigating the climatical change.. New national and international projects as well as new measurement approaches will be presented.

SUN Second Symposium of Energy Agencies of Mediterranean Countries Mediterranean Industry of the Sun, which will be held on the same dates and facilities of the Symposium Metrological Infrastructure, will have a strong focus on the themes related to application of industrial electronics to sustainable energy processing. Contributions, special sessions and tutorial proposals in the field of renewable energy systems, electric and hybrid propulsion and energy saving are strongly encouraged.
